Fostered by over 20 years of experience in residential construction and design and led by owner David Heimann, our process is one-on-one with our clients and/or contractors transforming ideas into beautiful homes.
David's intimate knowledge of the building process, the environment his homes are constructed in, and his passion for mountains and water, is grafted into every aspect of his work.
We are passionate about dwellings that emphasize efficiency, creativity and beauty. As true as a steady offshore breeze, East Wind Designs efficient spaces that are comfortable and pleasing, using materials and construction methods proven to withstand the elements of time.
Our projects range from the greater Helena area, throughout the Western Rocky Mountains of Montana extending to the North Pacific Coast. While we are based in Jefferson City, Montana, we work with clients near and far.

MOST OF OUR PROJECTS FOLLOW THIS COMMON WORKFLOW
1. PRE-DESIGN: This stage focuses on client goals—like vision and budget—balanced against the site’s physical and legal realities. We meet on site and have you share with us any inspiration photos, sketches, or other examples that reflect your vision.
2. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN: Through informal sketches, we map out the design’s flow and shape with flexible concepts keeping the conversation open for your feedback and new ideas. We meet in person and converse via email in this phase.
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT: We solidify the design by translating initial sketches into detailed drawings and 3D models. This is an iterative process—we work closely with you, incorporating your input until every detail of the design feels right.
4. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS: Plans and Specifications are completed to provide a clear roadmap for estimating, permitting, and building construction.
5. PROJECT FOLLOW UP: We offer ongoing support for site supervision and design consulting, as needed, during the construction of your project. These services are offered on an hourly fee basis, customized to your project's workflow and budget.
